As part of the VIP program, students have been asked to complete a minimum of 10 community service hours by the end of May 2017. Inspector Mizuno discussed the importance of getting involved in activities that you love and volunteering to give back to the community. Completion of 10 community service hours is a prerequisite for receiving a VIP certificate and for participating in the VIP graduation festivities. I have shared a community service record form with your child in the google classroom to help track the completion of community service hours.

Internet Safety
Last Thursday, our class engaged in a debate about whether the use of Youtube is beneficial or detrimental. The students effectively argued both ways. At the conclusion of the debate, I showed them the news story from the link provided below:

Following the clip, we discussed the importance of responsible internet use. I am including a link with a variety of internet safety tips. This is a topic that we will revisit often throughout the school year.
